When it’s time to launch your Calculator and/or Plans Gallery, you will need to choose the URL (web address) homeowners will use to access the sites.
When a homeowner goes to this URL, they will see a page like this:
If /gallery or /calculator is added to the end of the URL, it will take the visitor directly to that tool.
Option A: ADU Accelerator URLs (faster, less custom) #
We can launch your tools immediately with the URL:
[term you provide].aduaccelerator.org.
You have your choice of term for this URL, however we recommend it includes the official name of your jurisdiction and/or ADU program, such as:
- countyofsantaclara.aduaccelerator.org
- cityofgilroy.aduaccelerator.org
- adugilroy.aduaccelerator.org.
Note: If the name of your jurisdiction is shared with another city or county, such as City of Santa Clara and Santa Clara County, then a simplified URL like santaclara.aduaccelerator.org is not possible.
Using the first example above, Unincorporated Santa Clara County’s URLs could be as follows:
- countyofsantaclara.aduaccelerator.org – “Homepage” with buttons to their ADU Calculator and ADU Plans Gallery
- countyofsantaclara.aduaccelerator.org/calculator – ADU Calculator, if subscribed
- countyofsantaclara.aduaccelerator.org/gallert – ADU Plans Gallery, if subscribed
This option is the fastest to launch and requires no involvement from your jurisdiction IT department. Simply email us your choice of term, and we will email you when the URL is live.
Option B: Fully custom URLs (requires involvement of your IT department) #
With involvement from your IT department, we can launch your tools at any custom URL of your choice, with the same /gallery and /calculator structure. Using a similar example as above, the URL could be:
- SCCADU.org – Homepage
- SCCADU.org/calculator – ADU Calculator, if subscribed
- SCCADU.org/gallery – ADU Plans Gallery, if subscribed
In this case, you and your IT department are responsible for purchasing the appropriate URL and using the DNS records we provide to you to set up your URL. Please note that we cannot do this process for you. We highly recommend coordinating with your IT department before choosing this option, as your tools cannot launch until this domain is connected to our tools.
Option B2: Redirect your custom URL #
It is also possible to set up a redirect from a custom URL you purchase or own to an ADUAccelerator.org URL we set up. This can allow you to use an existing URL, such as a page on your official website, or launch first and set up a custom URL later. This process will also require the involvement of your IT department.
Process for moving forward #
Decide on an option and proceed as follow:
- Option A: decide on the custom term that will go before ADUAccelerator.org.
- Option B: contact your IT department to have them purchase a custom URL and add our DNS records, or set up a redirect to an ADUAccelerator.org URL you decide on.
